Admission Process and Requirements

At Sondervick International School we welcome international students between the ages of 11 and 15, with one of the parents having an international background and the intention to reside temporarily in the Netherlands.

During the first two years, you will receive lessons in Dutch and in English.
Your proficiency in the Dutch language should be at least at level A1 according to CEFR criteria.
Your proficiency in the English language should meet at least level A2 according to ERK criteria.
Your entry level is vmbo gt, havo or vwo.

If your child is new to the Netherlands:

If your child is new to the Netherlands, please send an email to aanmelden@sondervick.nl. In this email, please provide the following information:

Name and date of birth of your child
Residence of your child and the planned arrival date in the Netherlands
The extent to which your child is proficient in the Dutch language (at least level A1 according to CEFR criteria)
The extent to which your child is proficient in the English language (at least level A2 according to ERK criteria)
A brief motivation or background information

If your child is currently attending a regular primary school in group 8:

You can apply to Sondervick International School for the school year 2025-2026 during the central application week in March 2025.

If your child is currently attending an international school in group 7:

You can apply to Sondervick International School for the school year 2025-2026 during the central application week in March 2025.

If your child is already attending secondary education (VO) in the Netherlands:

If your child is already attending secondary education in the Netherlands, you can send an email to aanmelden@sondervick.nl. In this email, please provide the following information:

Name and date of birth of your child.
Name, course, and year of study.
A brief motivation.

Screening

To ensure we provide the best possible educational experience, a screening will be conducted to assess your child’s proficiency in both English and Dutch. This will help determine their current language levels in each language. In addition, we will also evaluate your child’s cognitive abilities to ensure the school aligns well with their learning needs and potential. The goal of this screening is to place each child in the environment where they can thrive and develop to the fullest.

Year 2 fully enrolled

We regret to inform you that Year 2 at Sondervick International School is now fully enrolled for the upcoming academic year.

However, if you wish, your child can be placed on a waiting list. Please note that being on the waiting list does not guarantee a place in the near future, as it is dependent on any potential openings that may arise.
